A motivational lecture on “Ethical Timeless Teachings for Robust Youth – The Eternal Inspiration” was conducted at Sainik School Kunjpura on 25 April 2026 in the School Auditorium. The session was delivered by Capt (IN) Davinder Singh Gahlot (Retd), an esteemed alumnus of the School.
The lecture was attended by cadets of Classes VI to XII, along with the Principal, Vice Principal, teachers, and staff. The primary objective of the session was to inspire young cadets and inculcate in them the spirit of selfless service towards the Nation.
Capt (IN) Davinder Singh Gahlot (Retd), an alumnus of Sainik School Kunjpura (Batch 1978–1985), was commissioned into the Indian Navy in January 1993. During his address, the speaker shared enriching experiences from his professional journey, including participation in the Commando Course at Belgaum, highlighting the importance of grit, endurance, and perseverance.
A distinguished veteran and an avid researcher on the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, the speaker delivered an insightful lecture that seamlessly integrated ethical, spiritual, and military values. He elaborated on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, particularly focusing on the evolution of human consciousness from animality to godliness, and emphasised their relevance in character building and leadership development.
While speaking on “Swami Vivekananda – Ideas for Robust Youth,” he outlined seven essential qualities for cadets: Power of Concentration, Fearlessness, Physical and Mental Strength, Faith in Oneself, Self-Discipline, Obedience without fault-finding, and Character.
Sharing his Jeevan Mantra, he stated, “Life is short, the vanities of the world are transient, but they alone live who live for others; the rest are more dead than alive.” Reinforcing this message with Swami Vivekananda’s words, he motivated the cadets to believe in their inner strength and strive to manifest their true potential through dedicated effort and disciplined living.
He further remarked that every meaningful endeavour undergoes the stages of ridicule, opposition, and eventual acceptance, encouraging cadets to remain steadfast in their convictions. Referring to the Vedic invocation, “Let noble thoughts come to us from all directions,” he concluded by emphasising that sincere effort, combined with divine grace, leads to success in life.
The speaker also highlighted the dignity, challenges, and honour associated with a career in the Armed Forces, urging cadets to uphold the core values of duty, honour, and integrity, and to pursue excellence in all spheres of life.
The lecture proved to be highly enriching and inspirational, reinforcing the School’s commitment to nurturing leaders of character dedicated to serving the Nation. Sainik School Kunjpura continues to uphold its proud legacy of producing officers for the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.
