Founder's Day

24th July 1961 is a red-letter day in the history of Sainik School Kunjpura as it was on this day that the school saw its inception by the then Defence Minister Sh VK Krishna Menon. Since then, the day is celebrated with great pomp and show. This gala day is commemorated by organizing the Investiture ceremony wherein the Appointments are decorated with their rank badges by administering an oath to be loyal to the duties assigned to them. Apart from this, various trophies viz. Best Cock house, Best house (Academics & Sports), Best All-rounder, COAS, and NDA Trophy are awarded to the merit holders. The hon’ble Chief Guest also pays homage to the War Heroes at the ‘Sai Kunj’ War Memorial. The day is marked with the gracious presence of the parents of the awardees, eminent Kunjeans and the elite invitees.

Old Boys Meet

The Old Boys Meet is held on every third Sunday of November wherein the old kunjeans visit their alma-mater and relive their bygone days. The old boys come along with their families and express their gratitude to their mentors. They also share their experiences of past days with the fresh batches of kunjeans. The day starts with paying homage at the ‘Sai Kunj’ War Heroes Memorial by the senior most kunjean who is the Chief Guest of the day. Thereafter, they move to the oval where they are overwhelmed by the exhibits by various clubs. They are also entertained by a host of variety programmes like Horse show, Dog show, Para gliding, Gymnastics, Aerobics, Dare Devil show. The kunjeans who have accomplished themselves in various spheres of life once again raise the dust when they clash with the present kunjeans in the games organized for their entertainment. Their families also participate in a number of games organized for their wives and children. The OBA also honours the veteran teachers for their untiring contribution towards sculpting the career of kunjeans. A cultural programme is also staged to make the day a memorable one. The Old Boys Association holds a general body meeting wherein they elect their President and float the plans for the welfare of the school. The day ends with a high tea at the Sainik House.

Annual Athletic Meet

Co-curricular activities are an essential ingredient of rigorous training at Sainik School Kunjpura. In the same line, along with host of other activities conducted throughout the academic session, Annual Athletic Meet is one of the major showcases of sporting skills held in Sant Kumar Stadium. The stadium gets its name from Col Sant Kumar - an eminent Kunjean who represented India in Moscow Olympics in 1980. The entire event is spanned over 3 days wherein the athletes compete in 3 categories viz. Holding House, Junior House and Senior Houses. The Athletic Meet is always declared open by the Chief Guest with oath-taking ceremony. The sports arena resembles any sports complex of international standard. The contingents of all the houses march in unison with their house flags demonstrating the sportsman spirit, camaraderie and feeling of belongingness. The athletic flame is kept burning throughout the Athletic Meet. Various mass displays are also held to showcase their Athletic Motor Abilities (Speed, strength, endurance, flexibility and co-ordination). All track and field events are organized wherein the athletes give their best to clinch the Athletics Trophy and the best athletes are awarded individual trophies in three categories apart from Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. The invited Chief Guest declares the Athletic Meet closed after the prize distribution ceremony and lowering of flags.
